Those that have played past Final Fantasy games may already be familiar with Enemy Skills, usually known in those past games as 'Blue Magic.' Some of Final Fantasy VII's enemy skills are very similar to the skills that could be learned by the Blue Mage Job in Final Fantasy V. In Final Fantasy VI (FFIII US), only STRAGO could learn blue magic skills and then use them for his special attack 'Lore.'
After looking around online and discovering that the Final Fantasy VII enemy skills lists floating around online are either incomplete or inaccurate, I've decided to make this list myself. This list is the ultimate Final Fantasy VII Enemy Skill manifesto, detailing every Enemy Skill available, exactly what enemies use these skills and how to get them to use them, where to find these enemies, exactly what the skills do and where to find these Materia.
In Final Fantasy VII, to learn Enemy Skill magic, you must first get the proper materia, as with any magic. That materia is conveniently called 'Enemy Skill.' There are a total of four Enemy Skill materia available to be found throughout the game. The first one is almost a can't miss. Defeat the HO-512 boss in the Shinra Headquarters on Disc 1 and then after defeating him an Enemy Skill materia will appear in the specimen container where Hojo was holding Aeris and Red XIII. Note that although this is pretty much a can't-miss, if you don't pick it up now, you don't have another chance to obtain it until after returning to the Shinra Headquarters in Disc 2. The second Enemy Skill materia isn't quite as obvious. It's found in Upper Junon and be obtained any time after Cloud finishes drilling for sending Rufus off at the Dock. Simply exit the area where Cloud was and explore the entrances in the area. In the first floor of one of them, you'll find someone dressed as a Shinra soldier guarding a door to a lower level. Talk to him to go down to this area (Beginner's Hall- Intermediate) and here you'll find the second Enemy Skill materia. The third Enemy Skill materia is available in the City of the Ancients. While in this town, you'll eventually come to a room where you have to decide to get some rest. Rest, and when you wake up, go past your bed to find a shining third Enemy Skill materia. The fourth and final Enemy Skill materia (which is a bit useless, since you only need one for each character in your party) is found in the house of the Chocobo Sage and is available as soon as you get the Highwind. Simply land the Highwind by the house of the Chocobo Sage (Northern Continent, a bit North of the excavators' village) and go in. Talk to the green (mountain) chocobo on the left and he'll spit out the fourth and final Enemy Skill materia. Pick it up.
So once you have the Enemy Skill materia, what are you to do with it? Well, first you have to equip it. If you don't understand how to equip materia, then Final Fantasy Gods help you. Once you have it equipped, you need to find an enemy that uses an Enemy Skill. (See the list below) Either wait for them to cast it, or, if possible, use Manipulate to force the enemy to cast it. If the characters hit by the skill do not already have that skill, then they will be spin around in a circle and a message will be displayed: Learned Enemy Skill '(fill in here)' From then forward, any character that has learned that skill can use it by simply selecting E. Skill from their command menu and choosing the appropriate skill. If a character has not learned that skill, then you must learn it for them, or they will have to swap materia in order to use it.
You can examine the Enemy Skills currently that you currently have from the Menu when you're not in battle. There are two ways to do this, either go to the menu and select Magic, or select Materia. To examine the skills available to you from 'Magic,' access it and then scroll down your options to 'Enemy-Skill.' You will get a complete list of every Skill available to you, along with the game's description of them and the amount of MP needed to cast them. The other method is to select Materia. Then, find any Enemy Skill materia you have (either equipped or unequipped) and a scrolling menu will appear showing the skills you have available. A star will also be lit up for each Skill. (Each skill has its own star.)
There are some special things to note about the Enemy Skill materia and learning Enemy Skills. If a character has more than one Enemy Skill materia equipped and has not learned a particular Enemy Skill for any of those materia, having that Skill cast on that character will result in that character learning the skill for all of those Materia. If the character has more than one Enemy Skill materia equipped and they have already learned the Skill on at least one of those materia, they will not learn the Skill for any of the other materia if it is cast on them. To learn it, they must first deequip any materia for which it has already been learned. If you learn a skill, but then escape from a battle, it will be as if you had never learned that skill. You must win the battle to learn the skill. If you miss out on a skill, it is still possible to learn it later in the game, with only two exceptions. There are only three enemies which cast Trine. See below for details. Pandora's Box is only cast once per any particular game, again, see below for details. Enemy Skills cannot be learned in the Battle Arena, despite what any other sources may tell you. Enemies in the battle arena can cast these Skills, but your character will never learn them.
The enemy skill list below is arranged somewhat differently from most lists you'll see. Rather than putting the skills in alphabetical order, or by what 'star' number they are, I've arranged them from the earliest that you can learn them in the game, to the latest. Please remember, though, that with only a couple exceptions, these Skills can still be learned even at the very end of the game.
Key:* = Enemy can be manipulated to learn the skill, but it is not required. ** = Enemy must be manipulated to learn the skill. *** = Enemy cannot be manipulated, or can be manipulated, but doesn't have skill on its list.
Boss monsters have 'Boss' by them in parenthesis.
Ratings Guide:
5 Stars = A very useful Enemy Skill. You must learn this. 4 Stars = Quite useful as an Enemy Skill. I highly recommend this one. 3 Stars = Somewhat useful. You might be able to get by without this one. 2 Stars = I really don't see much use for this one. 1 Star = Pretty useless, you can skip this if you want.

Final Fantasy VII may be the single most divisive game in RPG history. There are those who think of it as the best RPG ever, still having no equal, while others consider it the most overrated piece of trash ever. Either way, both sides agree: it is definitely one of the games of all time.

Unused Key Items
There are a few unused key items in the game. Note that there is no 'Unlimited Money Card' here. Old rumor: proven false.

Unused Materia
There are a handful of unused materia in the game's code. It's unknown what they were intended for (testing purposes?), but it's worth noting that they're only named in the Japanese version; they're nameless in the western release.
Unused Character Portrait
A placeholder character portrait, reading 'Now Printing' in Hiragana. 'Now Printing' is a common placeholder used by Japanese media when a picture isn't ready at the time of press. To see this, add an undefined character to your party.
Unused Status
There is an unused status effect called 'Dual' in the game's code. It does nothing. It is possible that this would have been similar to the Double status from Final Fantasy VIII (which allowed the player to cast magic twice in one turn) but was cut in favor of W-Magic.
Unused Element
In addition to an unused status effect, an entire element was dummied out.. or, the programmers attempted to remove it, anyhow, as it's still connected to several attacks, although most of these deal no damage, so their element is wholly unimportant. The only damage-dealing attack this 'element' is used by is Ultimate Weapon's powerful 'Ultima Beam', which can be helpful to know, as it's possible to halve/nullify/absorb this 'element' if any non-elemental materia (such as Restore) is paired with an 'Elemental' materia in a character's armor.

Hidden Test Enemies
Some of the 256 battle scene data sets of the game contain dummied-out test enemies whose names have not been translated (or even re-encoded) for the international releases of the game, which is why they show up as garbage strings in battle. With the exception of scene 249, which can be started via the 'BATTLE999' option in the debug rooms, none of these battles are accessible in-game.
Unused Areas
There are three unused maps originally intended for the Honey Bee Inn. These maps exist only on the original (non-International) Japanese version. There's a handful of dialogue associated with these maps that can be checked out here with the translations.
There's quite a lot of Japanese text scattered around in the main lobby. Below are translations of the text:

This track is found in the original Japanese version and PC version (with the filename COMICAL.MID) but unused. It was intended for a scene in the alternate unused version of the Honey Bee Inn (seen in unused areas) involving Palmer.

Despite this, the track itself bears resemblance to a theme associated with Yuffie.

Final Fantasy 7 Spells Of DeathUnused Field Maps
Several field maps go unused, one for the Northern Cave, an empty Cargo Ship, and a hill named 'Trap' of unknown purpose.
Hidden Notes in Graphics
The final image of the end credits of the Japanese release has the date '12/16/1996' scribbled in, which is not visible in-game.
In the German PAL release of the game, the HUD texture set of the submarine minigame carries the note æ¬å½ã®ãã¤ãç¨æ·±åº¦ ('real depth for German'). The pointed-to HUD element ('TIEFE' = German for 'DEPTH') is specific to the German version of the game. The US and Japanese versions use the DEPTH indicator in the upper right corner of the image instead.
Programmer Message
A hidden message from a programmer to his wife can be found on Disc 3 in SNOVALASBOSS3.BIN, starting at 0x0000A9AB. D'awwww.
Final Fantasy 7 SpellsDebug Text
The code of the PlayStation version contains strings which presumably belong to debugging functions used during the game's development. There is no known way to access these functions in released versions of the game.
Field Module
These look like remnants of a field event script debugger. Most of the strings are the mnemonics of script opcodes (e.g. 'batle' which starts a scripted battle).
Brucella abortus is a Gram-negative proteobacterium in the family Brucellaceae and is one of the causative agents of brucellosis. The rod-shaped pathogen is classified under the domain Bacteria. The prokaryotic B. Abortus is non-spore-forming, nonmotile and aerobic. Brucella abortus enters phagocytes that invade human and animal defenses which in turn, cause chronic disease in the host. Brucella is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria, named after David Bruce (1855â1931). They are small (0.5 to 0.7 by 0.6 to 1.5 µm), nonencapsulated, nonmotile, facultatively intracellular coccobacilli. Brucella spp. Are the cause of brucellosis, which is a zoonosis transmitted by ingesting contaminated food (such as unpasteurized milk products), direct contact with an infected animal,. OdditiesThe Prison Well
The well in the Corel Prison (officially called 'Basement' in the menu) appears to be entirely useless.. but there are two little oddities surrounding it.
How can the answer be improved? Total war warhammer gyrocopter.
The Red Man
This weird little guy is on the foreground layer of the pre-rendered graphic, but is masked out by the game code. There is an empty treasure chest roughly in the same location that one may think was only to cover him up, but that is not the case as the chest does not overlap the character. It may be a signature/cameo by one of the CG artists.
Test 0
Strangely, the original Japanese version forgot to remove a test monster from the random encounters in this room. ãã¹ã0(ã¬ã¼ããã¦ã³ã)('Test 0 (Guard Hound)' in Japanese) uses the Guard Hound model and appears in formations of four, but otherwise is identical to the Pyramids in the Debug Room.
Inaccessible Cave
Ripped scene background showing the inaccessible cave on the right
In the last screen of Sleeping Forest leading to the Forgotten Capital, a prominent ledge with a cave can be seen with a vine hanging from it, obviously for the player to climb. Despite there being a detour to allow the player to approach the vine it cannot be interacted with, making the cave inaccessible. Pressing Select shows that the exit is nonfunctional regardless.

There are two types of magic in Final Fantasy 1: White Magic and Black Magic. Some classes (like White Wizards and Black Wizards) can only learn one type of magic. Other classes (such as Red Mages / Wizards) can learn both. Use both types of magic to your advantage.

Fantasy Spell Ideas
One of the most influential RPGs of all time, Final Fantasy VII takes you on an unforgettable journey through a harsh and unforgiving sci-fi landscape. Packed with tense turn-based combat and an extraordinary story, Square Enixâs masterpiece is as exhilarating now as it was when it was first released in 1997.
One of the best games ever, but one problem
Final Fantasy VII is one of the best video games of all time, and there's nothing different about it in this mobile port except for one thing. That says a lot right there! But that begs the question: what is the one problem this game has? Auto saving. This game NEEDS an auto saving mechanic. When you play a good RPG, you play it for HOURS, and this is one of those cases. However, chances are, if you're so in the game and can't stop playing. You'll likely be having an experience so unreal that you'll forget to save in the long run. That being said, if you die and you haven't saved for a while or at all, then you're going to have to start the game all over again. Which will be very frustrating, rage insisting, annoying, and disappointing. And shockingly enough (sarcasm) this happened to not only myself, but to basically every other person who played this port. So please, game developers, add this feature.
Very nice port bringing me back
As one of the second Final Fantasy games Iâve played growing up! FFVII has won me over instantly I beat the bombing mission! Of course at a younger age I didnât understand the story much, but wow I did enjoy the active turn base battle! Later on when FFVII was ported to PC I grabbed it and it was great as they kept the graphics as it was. Played through and understood the story. Now that I got my hands on the mobile port(finally had iPhone with enough room) I can enjoy the game on the go! Of course the controls feel a little weird as itâs all over the screen, but as you play on you tend to forget itâs there. The music is great especially using headphones or AirPods! The ability to iCloud save is a great move as now I can continue from iPhone to iPad! I like the auto save BUT it was never in the game before so I will never use it! Cheats will make the game way too simple, no fun, sure you can get the full story quicker but the combat is worth it combine with the story. All in all though this port gave me the chance to play at work..shhhh donât tell! 11/10 thanks!
TL:DR funny this is the first time I used it! So the port is very good with controls that cover the screen making it quite distracting unless you play for 30+ minutes itâs like it not there. Cheat are not worth it and auto save made it too easy. But to include it was great for new players. I give this game 11/10 nostalgia, great story, replay value, and portable!
